The Citizen of the Month program shines a light on remarkable individuals and businesses who embody the essence of living, working, and giving back to the Montebello community.
Requirements

Must be a Montebello resident, business owner, local volunteer, or an employee of a Montebello business

Age 14 years or older (high school age and above)

Demonstrates outstanding service that has benefited the City of Montebello and its residents
- Demonstrates that a significant amount of time and personal resources have been invested for the benefit of the community
- Demonstrates a positive impact, influence, or outcome on the lives of others in and around Montebello
Nomination & Submission
Applicants may nominate themselves or another individual. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed every month. Nominees may carry over and be considered the following month. If no nominations are accepted or the nominee declines, no awardee will be named for that month. All nominations must contain sufficient details to be considered. The City reserves the right to reject nomination forms for insufficient information or to request additional details from the nominating party for committee consideration.

Selection Process
A selection committee determines recipients of the award:
- Montebello Chamber of Commerce
- The Shops at Montebello
- Montebello Reporter
- The Lions Club of Montebello
- Montebello Rotary Club
- Montebello Soroptimist
- Montebello-Commerce YMCA
The City reserves the right to confirm the accuracy of the information in all nomination forms. The committee reviews submitted nominations, casts anonymous votes, and selects an awardee by majority vote.
Winner Recognition
Winners will be notified via email and phone and formally acknowledged with a certificate, award plaque, brief public ceremony, and donated gifts at a City Council meeting.
